The biggest, most exciting new movie and TV trailers this week.

We live in a golden age of entertainment, with great new movies and TV shows being released all the time. There’s so much, in fact, that it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming, and what to get excited about.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of the biggest and best trailers released this week. And, as always, there’s some good stuff in there, featuring everything from malicious toys to oddball killers to evil penguins - perfect for the lead-up to Halloween!

Movies

The Electric State

On Netflix 14th March 2025

From writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and directors Joe and Anthony Russo - the assembled minds behind Marvel mega-blockbusters Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame - comes this epic sci-fi adventure based on the novel by illustrator Simon Stålenhag.

Set in an alternate ‘90s America devastated by a technological catastrophe, this tells the story of a young girl (Millie Bobby Brown, Stranger Things) who sets off on an epic road trip to find her missing brother. Along the way she’ll team up with Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) - wearing a terrific handlebar moustache - and a giant robot.

Also stars Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Stanley Tucci (Transformers: Age of Extinction).

The Monkey

In cinemas 21st February 2025

Based on the short story by Stephen King and directed by Osgood Perkins, the man behind this summer’s horror smash Longlegs, this one comes loaded with some seriously spooky talent.

Looking to have a bit more of a (dark and bloody) sense of humour than Perkins’ previous films, The Monkey tells the story of twin brothers (both played by Theo James, The Gentlemen) tormented by a cursed toy monkey that causes death and destruction every time it claps its cymbals.

Great stuff. Also stars Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings).

The Legend of Ochi

Coming soon

Here we have that rarest of beasts; no, not the Ochi, the mythical beast at the heart of this film, but a totally original fantasy property!

Looking like a mash-up of Hunt For the Wilderpeople, How to Train Your Dragon and Gremlins, this follows a young girl who befriends a creature that her village assumes to be dangerous, and goes on the run to keep her new friend safe.

It’s a fun story, set in a beautiful world pretty close to our own, and the Ochi itself is almost unbearably adorable - brought to life with some pretty amazing-looking puppetry. Stars Helena Zengel (News of the World), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Willem Dafoe (pretty much everything).

Carry-On

On Netflix 13th December 2024

Not, as you might expect, a film about the exploits of Kenneth Williams and co., but a taut action thriller from Jaume Collet-Serra, the director of Orphan and The Shallows (and Jungle Cruise, but we’ll forgive him for that).

Taron Egerton (Kingsman) stars as a TSA agent, blackmailed by a mysterious, nefarious figure (Jason Bateman, Ozark) into ignoring a dangerous package as it passes through airport security on Christmas Day. There are some unavoidable Die Hard 2 vibes here, but Carry-On still looks like it’ll be a lot of fun.

The Order

In cinemas 6th December

Based on a true story, this is a tense cat-and-mouse thriller about an FBI agent attempting to track down and dismantle a cell of domestic terrorists in the Pacific Northwest.

Director Justin Kurzel (Nitram) continues to explore some heavy themes here, including how disenfranchised young men often turn to violence and bigotry, but this time in the form of a straight-up thriller. Intelligent, scary stuff starring Jude Law (The Talented Mr Ripley) and Nicholas Hoult (The Menu).

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Foul

On Netflix 3rd January 2025

If you can believe it, it’s been almost twenty years since the last feature-length Wallace and Gromit film - 2005’s The Curse of the Were-Rabbit - and over thirty since penguin master criminal Feathers McGraw first graced our screens in The Wrong Trousers.

Well, the bird is back. Next year, that pernicious penguin will return to wreak vengeance on the eccentric, cheese-obsessed inventor and his loyal beagle - by turning the entire town against them. Crackers, Gromit!

TV Shows

The Creep Tapes

2014’s Creep was a brilliant, ultra-low budget comedy horror from writer-director-stars Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass, following an ill-fated videographer hired on Craigslist to document the life of a truly strange man.

It was such a cult hit that it spawned an even more bonkers sequel, and now it’s being revived for a spin-off limited series. Each episode will be a new found footage ‘tape’, a new victim and a new bizarre character for the titular ‘creep’ to play. And yes, his werewolf alter-ego Peachfuzz will definitely be making a return.

Invincible

Season 3 on Prime Video 6th February 2025

Between this and The Boys, Prime Video has really cornered the market on adult-oriented, ultraviolet superhero shows. Invincible, the highly-popular animated series based on Robert Kirkman’s comics, returns early next year with its third season - and a fourth has already been confirmed.

The show follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who has inherited his dad’s Superman-like powers and must use them to hold off an encroaching alien invasion force. Brimming with humour (as seen in this extremely meta teaser), action and a whole lot of violence, this is a very fun watch.

Plus it has an all-star voice cast, including Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) and JK Simmons (Whiplash).

Silo

Season 2 on Apple TV+ 15th November 2024

Apple’s critically-acclaimed adaptation of Hugh Howey’s sci-fi trilogy returns next month with a brand new season. Set in a dystopian future, the show follows the lives of people living in a vast underground structure following a mysterious cataclysmic event.

Picking up right after last season’s cliffhanger finale, Season 2 may finally reveal what’s actually out there on the surface, and why the Silo’s government has worked so hard to keep everyone locked up underground.

Stars Rebecca Ferguson (Dune), Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption) and Common (John Wick: Chapter Two).
