England showed their intentions to retain their World Cup title after thrashing the USA in their final Super 8s group stage game, spearheaded by captain Jos Buttler.

A big win was needed to safely secure their place in the Semi-finals, and that’s exactly what they delivered, reaching the target of 116 in just 9.4 overs with zero wickets. Buttler was the star of the show offensively, hitting an unbeaten 82 off 38 balls which included fives sixes in one over.

It wasn’t all Buttler, though, as on the bowling side, veteran Chris Jordan finished off the competition hosts with a stellar over, taking the final four wickets from five balls, including a sensational hat-trick to end the USA’s tournament at the very ground he grew up next too.

In the other game in the group, South Africa beat the West Indies to claim the top spot in the group, meaning England will now face the winner of group 1 in the Semi-finals, which is looking likely to be India.

Inside Out 2 continues to set box office ablaze

Inside Out 2 followed up its best-of-the-year-so-far opening box office weekend last week with a record-breaking weekend haul in its second week.

$100m domestically this past weekend breaks the record for the biggest second weekend ever for an animated film, a title previously held by The Super Mario Bros. Movie at $92.3m.

Adding the $164.4m it brought in overseas takes its total flying past Dune: Part Two to become the highest-grossing film of the year so far, currently sitting at $724.3m.

Behind it in the box office, Tom Hardy’s latest flick The Bikeriders ($10m) was beaten out to second in its debut weekend by Bad Boys: Ride or Die ($18.7m), which in its third week has now surpassed the quarter of a billion mark worldwide ($289.1m).

The Spanish Grand Prix once again proved that we are going to be treated to many great battles for the remainder of the season despite Max Verstappen claiming his seventh win of the year.

Lando Norris was left to rue his chances, having claimed his second pole position of his career after a stunning final lap in Saturday’s qualifying. The pace was clearly there for him to double his career win total, but a poor start meant he was always playing catchup.

On the final step on the podium though was the eight-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who ended his career-longest podium drought with a solid drive, passing his teammate late on to take his 198th podium appearance.

It was more than just a podium though, as he and Mercedes had been the centre of attention between rounds after a leaked email claimed the team had been hindering the departing Hamilton in favour of his teammate, George Russell, hence the disparity in performances so far this season - a leak which Mercedes obviously played off as fake news.

Now we’re not one to don a tinfoil hat or anything, but seems a bit odd that the weekend directly after that leak, Hamilton out-qualifies and beats Russell, rather convincingly as well…

MCU star lets slip details for Avengers 5

Doctor Stange and MCU star Benedict Cumberbatch has potentially let slip his involvement in the upcoming Avengers 5 film if his comments in an interview with Still Watching Netflix on YouTube.

The interview saw the Academy-Award-nominated actor break down his most iconic roles, including his part as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he has begun to take on a larger role following the events of Avengers: Endgame.

While speaking about his part as Strange, Cumberbatch made a rather vague comment, saying "I’m very much looking forward to Avengers next year, which is cooking up a storm."

Many have inferred that to mean his involvement in the film, something which can be backed up by a previous Deadline report that stated more than 60 MCU characters may be reprising their roles for Avengers 5.

Andy Murray’s hopes of a final Wimbledon sendoff are in doubt amid injury concerns following his retirement from Queen’s last week.

The two-time Wimbledon champion is aiming for one last farewell at SW19 this summer, but unconfirmed reports of spinal surgery have put that all in the balance.

It was the Daily Telegraph that first reported the potential surgery on Saturday, following his withdrawal in his second-round match at Queen’s on Wednesday.

Should the reports ring true, it will rule Murray out for Wimbledon, which starts on 1st July, and likely the summer Olympics in Paris, where he is said to be planning on competing in the men’s singles and doubles competition with Dan Evans.
