The biggest, most exciting new movie and TV trailers this week.

We live in a golden age of entertainment, with great new movies and TV shows being released all the time. There’s so much, in fact, that it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming, and what to get excited about.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of the biggest and best trailers released this week. And there’s a few bangers this week, featuring everything from secret agents to super soldiers to shiny xenomorphs.

Movies

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

In cinemas 23rd May

The eighth Mission: Impossible film, quietly renamed from Dead Reckoning Part 2, could very well be Tom Cruise’s last outing as indestructible secret agent Ethan Hunt.

The story follows on directly from the last film, finding Ethan in a desperate race to destroy a potentially world-ending AI threat. And judging by this very dramatic trailer, all mournful strings and meaningful glances, he may just lose everything along the way.

The real headline though is the star’s continuing tradition of death-defying stunts: this time he’ll reportedly be leaping between planes in mid-air. Madness.

Captain America: Brave New World

In cinemas 14th February

After being handed the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) finally steps into the red, white and blue boots of Captain America in this sequel.

While Sam may not have super soldier serum running through his veins, he does have a cool new Wakandan-built suit, complete with retractable wings. And he’ll need it too, as he faces off against a nefarious plot against the President of the United States, Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford).

But let’s be honest, the real draw here is seeing screen legend Ford turn into a gigantic red rage monster.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

In cinemas 13th February

Based on the most recent of Helen Fielding’s novels, this fourth entry in the Bridget Jones saga finds the titular Londoner (Renée Zellweger) a widowed mother of two after the death of her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Expect some properly tear-jerking moments amongst the usual bouts of razor-sharp wit and slapstick comedy.

Also returning from the previous films is Hugh Grant, continuing his recent run of brilliantly funny roles. Perfect viewing for Valentines Day!

How To Train Your Dragon

In cinemas 13th June

A live-action remake of the beloved animated film, this looks to be hewing pretty close to the source material. Just like the original, the film follows hapless Viking Hiccup (Mason Thames) as he befriends injured dragon Toothless - something that doesn’t go over well with the inhabitants of his village.

Expect comedy, high-stakes drama and some high-speed, fire-breathing action. And lots and lots of dragons, of course.

Y2K

In cinemas 6th December

A fun, utterly bonkers-looking comedy horror from prestigious indie studio A24. As you might have guessed, this is set on New Year’s Eve 1999, during the height of concerns about the Millenium Bug.

While in real life nothing much happened when computers ticked over into the new millennium, this movie gives us a different take - all of the world’s technology turns murderous.

Expect sentient turkey carvers and robots cobbled together out of TV sets and skateboards.

TV Shows

Alien: Earth

Season 1 on Disney+ Summer 2025

This very brief teaser doesn’t give away much, save a chilling glimpse of a xenomorph’s shiny noggin, a cool tagline and a date. But that date alone tells us a lot: the series will be set in 2120, just two years before the original Alien.

Interesting stuff…

Little is known about the plot, but it seems that one or more of the pesky alien critters will crash land on Earth and, undoubtedly, cause havoc. This was developed by Noah Hawley (Fargo) and stars Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling) and Essie Davies (The Babadook).

The Studio

Season 1 on Apple TV+ 26th March

This raucous new comedy from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg - the creators behind everything from Superbad to The Boys - follows the trials and tribulations of the newly-appointed head of a major Hollywood movie studio.

Featuring an absolutely stacked cast, including Rogen himself, Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) and Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along), plus some hilarious cameos from the likes of Paul Dano (The Batman), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Brave New World) and the one-and-only Martin Scorcese, this looks like it’ll be must-watch television for movie fans.
